At Redefine Physical Therapy & Wellness, we believe in transparent care and clear communication so you always understand your options.

Physical Therapy Services

Medicare has specific guidelines for physical therapy services. When care is considered medically necessary physical therapy, the physical therapist is required to be enrolled with Medicare and to submit claims directly. Medicare does not allow patients to submit claims on their own for these services.

At this time, Redefine Physical Therapy & Wellness does not bill Medicare for covered physical therapy services. Because of this, we are unable to provide Medicare-covered physical therapy services to Medicare beneficiaries.

However, dry needling is a highly effective physical therapy intervention that is not covered by Medicare and is a cash service we can provide.

We know this system can feel confusing, and we’re always happy to help you understand your options or answer questions before starting care.

Wellness, Fitness & Performance Services

In addition to physical therapy, Redefine offers wellness-based, fitness, and performance-focused services. These services are not intended to treat a medical condition and are not covered by Medicare.

Examples may include:

  • Wellness or preventive movement care
  • Strength and conditioning support
  • Fitness and performance
  • Movement assessments focused on overall function and longevity

These services are provided on a cash-pay basis. When appropriate, an Advance Beneficiary Notice (ABN) will be completed to clearly explain that these services are not covered by Medicare and that the patient is responsible for payment.

Our Commitment

Our goal is to ensure every client receives care that aligns with both their goals and current healthcare regulations, while maintaining the integrity and quality of our services.

If you have questions about whether your visit falls under physical therapy or wellness-based care, we are always happy to discuss this with you before starting services.

FAQ: Can I see you for physical therapy if I pay cash and do not plan to submit a claim to Medicare?

Unfortunately, no. Even if you don’t plan to file a claim, Medicare rules still apply based on your eligibility — not whether reimbursement is requested. For physical therapy, Medicare requires the treating therapist to be enrolled and to submit the claim. Physical therapists aren’t allowed to opt out of this process, even if patients are willing to pay cash. Personally, I do not agree with this process and urge you to support the legislation listed below to put decisions about your healthcare in your control.

*Proposed federal legislation (HR 4204: Medicare Patient Choice Act) may, if passed, allow practices like Redefine Physical Therapy & Wellness to opt out of Medicare and work directly with Medicare beneficiaries under expanded models of care.
